Best Day

To all of my friends who are going through a difficult time right now:

The old man was sitting under a tree when a child came running up to him.  “Grandpa, grandpa, tell me again about the best day of your life.”

Grandpa Shadrach pulled the little child onto his lap and said, “Well, it all started the day my friends and I were thrown into the fire.  As soon as we landed in the fire, I realized something wonderful was happening.”

“What happened?  Were you afraid?  Was the fire hot?  Did you get burned?”

“No, I wasn’t afraid.”

“Grandpa?  Why weren’t you afraid?”

“Because that was the day I walked with God.  It was the best day of my life.  I didn’t get burned.  The ropes burned off, and I didn’t even smell like smoke.  Yes, indeed, it was the best day of my life.”

Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God.
