Convergence – What is this?

by Janet L. Garcia

Convergence is a word I never knew the meaning of until now. As I really began to study this word, I began to understand its meaning and see how the times and season of many children of God are getting ready to be launched out into the deep. These children of God are positioned to make a major impact in the world. Dr. Lance Wallnau said it best, “The word convergence implies a coming together of certain factors in the life of a person who is fully set apart to the purposes of God. When they step on the scene they impact the environment!”

This statement makes me think of Esther when she was called to the scene to make a significant impact over an evil man full of hatred for God’s chosen people. Haman was planning to plot to overthrow the Persia leader and plan the annihilation of thousands of Jewish people. Esther’s mission was to go unannounced before the king and help the king to know who she really was. Her response was, “if I perish, I perish!” Or what about young David, anointed by the Prophet Samuel to be a future King of Israel and called to the scene to make an impact on the environment and pick a fight with the giant Goliath in front of thousands of people using a sling and five stones. His purpose was to let the enemy opposition know who is the sovereign God and essentially let them know who is in control. His response was, “Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1st Samuel 17:45).

He knew who He was; a child of God with authority. Let’s not forget about the callings of Paul or Peter, their stories and who they once were and who God called them to be. Paul used to be a Pharisee Saul and saw to it that many who were of “The Way” were persecuted. As we know, Paul got redeemed, filled and baptized with the Holy Spirit on a street called, “Straight”, called to become an Apostle to turn the world upside down. “Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Then all who heard were amazed, and said, “Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?” But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ” (Acts 9”21-22).  When He came on the scene he writes a majority of the New Testament. One of my favorite scriptures states, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many Brethren. Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified” (Romans 8:29-30).

Finally, Peter once a fisherman became a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was transformed by the renewing of his mind, so that, later he could come on the scene in the most significant time after the ascension of Jesus to the throne of heaven. He was given the ability to power by the Holy Spirit, to speak boldly and converted three thousand people to the start of the “Koinonia” the Greek meaning for fellowship of the church, “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:40-42).

What did all these four scriptural ancestors telling us today. Arise and shine and confound the wise. These are the times as God’s children to turn from the world and its ways, come into fellowship with one another so we can converge on the scene together in the most impactful wave of reformation and revival the world has ever seen. There is a perverse generation and time is of the essence to converge on the scene with our talents (strengths) and spiritual gifts to know which mountain of influence we are called to be in and march heavily to the beat of the same drum. The drum of a unity of the body of believers, lovers of the gospel message, willing to lay it all down like Esther, “if I perish, I perish!” We are called right now to converge with the plan of God, I keep saying, “God has a plan and His plan is working.” So here we are in our finest hour to get quiet before Him, repent and confess our sins. We must repent from not staying on the narrow path and get back on track so we can come against the Goliaths that has so heavily influenced the mountains of Religion, Family, Education, Arts and Entertainment, Media, Government, and Business. Let us get in one accord, with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, prayer and calling on our angelic forces with us and behind us to take the same weapons David used so to speak such as, our top five talents or strengths (rocks) and each other the brethren (our sling) in partnership and take every mountain of influence back for God.
