Fork In The Road

Just a few days removed from the Presidential inauguration, and just days away from the Superbowl, there is excitement in our nation. The tide of Socialism has been halted, and America once again has hope. Outside the public eye, two defenses are being planned. One is against the twelve men of the Kansas City Chiefs offense, the other against the American people.

The subject line read “Fork in the Road.” Before moving to the body of the email, I paused. A fork in the road meant that a decision needed to be made. Go left or go to the right. It meant there was to be a change in direction. The words adjustment and correction came to mind. I remember my time as an Army Pathfinder. When communicating with an aircraft approaching a drop zone, I would only need to recommend that the pilots steer left or steer right. They were close to being on course, only a small correction was needed. I was curious as I began to read the vowels and consonants that formed the words and sentences contained in a few paragraphs, which offered the addressees a choice.

Seeing that the context was about a choice, it caused me to mull over the subject line again. But then I considered the originator of the email and skepticism rose up. Oh, if it were only true. If our government was truly choosing to do the right thing. To act or behave honorably as elected representatives. For decades, the American people had hoped for and sought after men and women that would restore honor and integrity to our government. That integrity would replace privilege, elitism, and the ever appearance of evil. But this hope would only be realized when in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches honorable hearts beat in them.

Now is not the first time that Americans have placed a fork in the road before our elected representatives. When Ronald Reagan was elected in two landslide victories, 1980 and 1984, it was the hope that the seeds of rebellion sown in the 60s and the New Deal socialism would be eradicated. Then in 1994, after Bill Clinton was elected President, and his wife took charge, another fork was offered in the “Contract with America.” In both instances righteousness, justice and liberty were given a chance. But instead, our nation which had stood for over two-hundred years on the principle of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were led into increased genocide (Abortion), overreaching federal regulations, and depression.

In praying about how to write this article, I had these words in my spirit. Wait, Watch, Witness. Meditating on these words over the course of a few days, a verse found in Luke kept coming to mind.

Luke 8:17 NKJV
For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be made known and come to light.

Fast forward two weeks.

Another aspect that a fork in the road brings is exposure. Light is often associated with truth. When darkness is exposed to light, there is no contest. When truth is exposed, a lie cannot stand, struggle, or make a defense. President Trump and his cabinet officials have entered the room and flipped switch of truth on. The American people are now seeing decades of corruption, wasteful and unconstitutional spending along with gross misuse and abuse of power. Those that are trying to resist and attack our President, are exposing themselves as having chosen the other fork, and are marking themselves as co-conspirators to what many Americans are considering criminal activity.

As our President attempts to lead us on the right fork in the road, and bring a just and right government, we will be opposed. Socialists have entrenched themselves in every branch of our government and are unwilling to give up anything that allows them to control the people. I filter everything through a Biblical view. I understand that every kingdom and nation of this world will one day become the kingdoms of our Lord. (Revelation 11:15) That is down the road, but for now, satan the god of this world, all his demons and the men and women that will submit to his influence, will stop at nothing to deter, discourage and defeat any choice to do right.

God wants all nations to love, serve, and worship Him. It is His will that all take the right fork, to repent and avoid destruction. (2 Peter 3:9) I have always found encouragement in His promise that if Christians here in America will humble themselves, pray and seek His face (His wisdom and direction) turn from wickedness (our own, not the ungodly) that He will heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The Lord is well able to deal with those in authority that act ungodly, that refuse to obey His will. He does this in His unfailing love with the end being repentance. We see this in the life of David the King of Israel after his sin with Bathsheba. (2 Samuel 11) Everyone that serves in a government position should learn from this example.

2 Samuel 11:27b NKJV
But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

Allow me to summarize what David did as it is relevant to those that are supposed to serve in our federal, state, and local governments. This starts with not doing with what you were elected or appointed to do. (11:1) Whether the President, Congressman, or a manager in an agency you have a duty and you should be doing it. While David coveted another man’s wife (11:3,4), how much coveting of money, power, and privilege have we seen in our Congressional representatives. It is not yet known if anyone has abused their authority to the point of murder, but not being a good steward of the people’s money and resources is abuse as well.

Then there is the covering up of transgressions. (11:6-16) How much do I write? From the laptops of Hunter and Hillary, from the pallets of money by plane to the vote buying pork spending and misappropriation of funds that takes place in every department and agency.

Covering up is the norm for politicians on both sides of the aisle. I am sure that over time most, like David, begin to think of themselves free of any discovery.

2 Samuel 12:1
The LORD sent Nathan…

Just those first words tell it. Exposure! But as I said before, God’s unfailing love would have that all would repent before judgment need come. This fork in the road may not go away. It may still be there before Congress at the next mid-term.
