Merry Christmas Israel

by Robin Alcala

With this historical and prophetic gift of covenant friendship and honor that was bestowed this week from our country to the country of Israel; we extended a gift of grace and blessing.  According to Genesis 12:3, we actually may have given ourselves a grand gift in return.  Gracious retribution is reflected in this Scripture, “I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you, Israel.  And I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you, Israel.”

With the news that our President has declared Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, it brings to remembrance how in the 1990’s, I believe it was 1999, when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lost the election, I happened to be visiting someone who had the news on, when the program was focusing on his election loss.  I really did not know much more than the fact he was Israel’s Prime Minister at the time.

As I looked at this world leader, I saw a unique individual with an extremely significant call on his life.  I was captivated, at that very moment I also sensed a very heavy anointing upon this man, and I heard these words, “He is like a King David.  Pray that he is in office at My return.”  So with no further understanding regarding their election terms or election process, I knew this was not the last we would hear of him.  From that moment in time, I prayed regularly over the years, just as God had instructed me to do so.

Doubly intriguing to me as well, is that somewhere around 1990, God again spoke to me regarding a future President of our country.  A similar thing transpired, again while at a relative’s home, they had the television tuned to a huge event.  From what I recall, it seems that it may have been a televised beauty pageant.  Mr. Trump was sitting on the front row, when the camera focused on him, at which time, the news broadcaster took an opportunity to publicly belittle and mock him because of his bankruptcy challenges that he was facing at the time.  I recall as if it was yesterday, as great empathy rose up inside me for this man, God spoke to my heart that, “I was to pray for him, because he had a great call on his life.  As I stood there pondering what might this call be, “The President of our country” is what seemed to resonate strongly within my heart.

So here we are in 2017, and the very same two men that God specifically told me with clarity to pray for, are now in office leading two great countries at the very same time in history.

Along with this line of thought, I am recalling another experience, that is forever branded in my memory that occurred when I was only 12 years old.  I was walking up my rocky road where I lived and I was talking to Him and asking Him questions regarding the “End Times”.  I raised myself Baptist, and as a child hungry for God, I would always hear from the Baptist that Jesus was going to return and that He would get us out of here before the “Tribulation”.  That along with the theology “Once saved, always saved” always seemed to disturb me. Those were “their truths”, and quite frankly, I have never been able to embrace them. They also created many questions and concerns for me.  So that day, this little Baptist girl was talking to God regarding those concerns.  Back then, I did not know anybody or even any Baptist that “talked to God”.  I always heard, “That God was too busy taking care of the world to listen to me! So don’t bother Him!” I guess I was a Baptist rebel of sorts, because I made it a habit to talk God’s arm off—so to speak.

That day, I wanted answers, so who better to ask than God Himself?  So with a simple childlike faith I believed that moment forward all His answers to my questions that inquisitive day.  One of those answers, that is ever before me, was “I am coming back in your lifetime.”  That means from all the trillions of times that you and I may have heard that, “Jesus is coming back soon”, it translated into… that He really is!

Since, He really is coming back soon, may we always keep in mind what Luke 21:34-36 encourages us to, “Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. “But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Possibly, this historical gift that was given to Israel, is somehow our indescribable Creator’s attempt to shelter our country in an immeasurable act of grace; from the unimaginable atrocities which will be transpiring upon the earth in the days ahead of us.  So embrace with hope, the prophesies we see daily unfolding before our eyes.   Look up and sing, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:14

Merry Christmas Israel and Merry Christmas America!
