Open Doors

I often share the story of how God called my husband to Virginia to start Christian Embassy over 28 years ago. This last Sunday, as I was sharing it again with our new partners, my voice started shaking and eyes filled with tears as for a moment I felt the weight of the battles and opposition we have come against during these 28 years. The moment that my husband cut the chains off the door of the broken down and abandoned church building, God spoke to Him and said: “Never shut the door of this church again!” He knew in that moment that God takes His church seriously and as a young man, He needed to understand the responsibility. God knew all about the opposition that would come against us but He also knew that He would never send us into battle alone and without the victory! This morning, I was barely awake when He gave me these words:

“These are the words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my Name…

Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new Name. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 3:7-13

Today, no matter what enemies or opposition you may be facing, take courage and hold tight to your faith! God is truly a defender and rewarder of those who diligently seek Him! What God opens, no man can shut!
