Noah Wall, now a vibrant and intelligent nine-year-old, did not always start life on such a joyful note. Despite being dramatically outnumbered, the British soldiers displayed extraordinary valor and resolve.

The defenders’ ability to withstand a much larger force resulted in only 17 British deaths and 15 wounded, while the Zulu losses were significantly higher. When David faced the Amalekites after they had attacked Ziklag, he did not rush into action based on mere impulse. Instead, he inquired of the Lord, as recorded in
1 Samuel 30:8: “David inquired of Yahweh, saying, ‘Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them?’ He answered him, ‘Pursue; for you shall surely overtake them, and you shall without fail recover all.’” This divine direction was crucial for David’s victory, highlighting the importance of seeking God’s counsel in every battle.
Discernment is similarly vital in spiritual warfare today. The challenges we face require not only physical strength but also spiritual insight. C.T. Studd, a renowned missionary, exemplified this principle throughout his ministry in Africa and China. His life was marked by significant spiritual opposition and the constant need for discernment.
