The Hidden Reason You Feel Stuck (Even If You’re Succeeding)

If you are reading this, there is a good chance you feel a tension you can’t quite name.

On paper, your business might be growing. You are hitting your KPIs, your team is expanding, and you are doing all the things a “good leader” is supposed to do. Yet, when you close your laptop at the end of the day, you don’t feel the satisfaction of a job well done. You feel a low-grade anxiety, a “splinter in your mind” suggesting that the life you are building doesn’t quite match the life you were designed for.

You have progress, but you don’t have peace.

You have movement, but you don’t have clarity.

Most entrepreneurs try to fix this tension by working harder. We assume that if we just scale a little faster, hire one more person, or launch one new product, the feeling will go away. But striving doesn’t cure misalignment. It only accelerates burnout.

The problem isn’t that you aren’t working hard enough. The problem is that you are likely building out of order.

The Myth of Constant Expansion

In the modern marketplace, we are taught that “bigger is always better” and “faster is always smarter.” But if we look at the biblical pattern of leadership, we see a completely different rhythm. God is not interested in building a platform that crushes the person standing on it.

Before God builds a ministry or a business, He builds the leader.

We see this in the life of Joseph, who spent years in a pit and a prison before he ever stepped into the palace. We see it in David, who spent seasons in the pasture and the cave before he ever sat on the throne. These weren’t wasted years; they were construction zones. God was fortifying their character so they wouldn’t collapse under the weight of their calling.

The disconnect for many Kingdom-minded business owners today is that we are trying to skip the “construction zones” to get to the “throne room.”

The 7 Stages of a Builder

Through years of working with entrepreneurs and ministry leaders, I’ve discovered that there is a distinct framework – a divine BUILDER Blueprint™ – for how purpose-driven businesses are built. It follows a 7-stage progression:

1. Become Aware: You realize the old way of operating no longer works.
2. Unplug: You disconnect from the noise to hear the new signal.
3. Identity First: You stop performing for worth and start operating from sonship.
4. Lay Framework: You build the internal systems that can sustain growth.
5. Do Work: You move in obedience, not just strategy.
6. Expand Capacity: You learn to carry more weight without breaking.
7. Rise & Build: You step into dominion and stewardship.

Here is where the trouble starts: Most of us are trying to live in Stage 6 (“Expand Capacity”) when God is actually calling us to Stage 2 (“Unplug”).

We are trying to scale our output when God is trying to deepen our roots. We are trying to “Do Work” before we have “Laid the Framework.”

When you build out of order, confusion isn’t a character flaw, it is a consequence. You are doing the right work, but in the wrong season. And just like a farmer who plants in winter, no amount of effort will produce a harvest if the timing is wrong.

Stop Forcing, Start Aligning

If you are feeling that “splinter in your mind” today, I want to offer you a different approach. Stop trying to force an outcome. Instead, pause and ask yourself: What season am I actually in?

Are you in a season of Demolition, where God is stripping away old identities?

Are you in a season of Foundation, where the work is invisible but essential?

Or are you in a season of Expansion, where it is finally time to run?

Clarity and alignment always come before acceleration. When you align your business with the season God has you in, the pressure lifts. You stop striving for success and start cooperating with your formation.

You weren’t called to build a small life. But you also weren’t called to build a misaligned one.
