The Reason Graham Platner Is Toast

COMMON SENSE: It seems like Graham Platner is destined to be this cycle’s Joe Biden. At the national level of the Democrat Party, the leadership has decided to abandon their support for Platner, a NAZI rapist. On the surface, it might appear they have finally come to their senses, but such a benign interpretation, in my opinion, would be inaccurate. There is nothing noble about what they are doing.

Because Platner crossed a “Red Line” by allegedly raping Jenny Racicot, a woman he had apparently been dating for a while, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) has withdrawn his support. But why was this the straw that broke the camel’s back? Why wasn’t the Red Line crossed for Khanna last month, when another woman came forward and accused Platner of raping her? Why would Khanna and other Democrats stick with Platner then but not now?

Could the answer be as simple as last month’s victim was a Conservative Republican and the more recent one is a Progressive Democrat? Maybe, but I don’t think so.

I believe the answer is even less principled. It’s because the internal poling of the Democratic Party concerning Platner’s prospects in Maine, has come to the realization that he cannot defeat Sen. Susan Collins (I-ME). When they thought he would win, despite his aberrant behavior, they were willing to support his candidacy.

I know my interpretation is deeply cynical, but I believe it is accurate. The leadership of the Democratic Party is this calculating.

In order for the Democrats to retake the Senate, they must flip the seat held by Collins, who caucuses with the Republicans. Without winning Maine, there is no road for them to retake the upper body. Having come to this realization, precisely like they did with President Biden in 2024, the Democrats have decided to abandon Platner. They are doing this, even though he won the Democratic nomination fair and square, just like Biden did.

When the Party leadership thought Platner could defeat Collins, even though they knew he was a NAZI rapist, they were willing to support his candidacy. Having come to the conclusion that he cannot defeat her, although quite late in the game, they have now become moral purists, condemning Platner, abandoning him and those who voted for him in the process.

But how could the Democrats do such a thing, you might ask? That’s an easy question to answer. It’s because that’s who they are or, more accurately, who they have become. They are this sleazy, this anti-American, and this ignoble. Now, with less than a week before it is too late to remove him, having performed Lorena Bobbitt surgery on his candidacy, they must come up with someone new to beat Susan Collins. That will be difficult to do, but I have a suggestion. Maybe Kamala can buy a house in Kennebunkport.
