These Dry Bones Will Live

by Janet Lynn Garcia

Our land has been ravaged and many are with out hope but there is a hope found in the scriptures of the Prophet Ezekiel. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, brought him out and set him in the midst of the valley of dry bones. What did he see? He saw a valley of dry bones. The Lord asks him a very profound question, “ And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So he answered, O Lord God, “You know.” Again He said to him, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!” (Ezekiel 37:3-4).

This is a message of hope to those who think things are dead and dry. I know first hand what it means to be spiritually dead and dry. It is a feeling you can’t shake off until you can determine what the culprit is. I can tell you who and what the culprit is. It’s our adversary with the deception to keep dry bones in the valley, to keep people exiled from a loving Savior and see to it there is destruction before his time is up.

In this very prophetic scriptural account, the dry bones signified the exiled people of Israel who had been in Babylonian captivity for more seventy years. The prophet Ezekiel was used to speak and prophesy to dry bones so they could live again. The bones began to rattle and shake. They came together in fervency. The ligaments, tissues and skin began to grow back over the bones and then breath was breathed into this lifeless body to live again. Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophecy, son of man, and say to the breath. Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live” (Ezekiel 37:9, NKJV). Yes, the dead shall live and those without hope shall live and not die and declare the works of the Lord. The destitute shall arise and live, the broken and lost shall say they have been found. What is astounding in this account is God is calling forth the Spirit to come from the four winds and breath on the slain, “Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live” (Ezekiel 37:9, NKJV). The Spirit is what gives life, “You send forth your Spirit, they are created; And you renew the face of the earth” (Psalm 104:30, NKJV) and we know the Spirit was there from the very beginning and in partnership God and the Spirit of the Lord were doing works together, “Then God said, “Let US make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26, NKJV). The Spirit of the Lord was there in the beginning, during the prophetic account of Ezekiel awakening bringing a national awakening.

Make no mistake. The Spirit is alive even now and there will be a move of the Spirit. The biblical spiritual account of the valley of dry bones coming together is a miracle. In the last days, I believe we will continue to witness miracles. I had a thought, God is supernatural and that makes me supernatural. On a daily basis, I am a walking breathing miracle created by God for a greater purpose. These dry bones were dead and now they are alive in the Spiritual awakening that I experienced just five years ago. I met my Messiah at the spiritual well and took a drink that will last a lifetime. I’m no longer thirsty and don’t have to be drunk with wine but to be filled with the Spirit. So many lost souls are crying, seeking, for a place to call home, just like the exiled nation Israel. However, we are reminded without knowledge my people perish. I’m here to stand in the gap, as a watchman to say these dry bones will live again. We must be vigilant and alert to the lost and hurting. It is up to the believer to arise to share a word of prophecy, “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy” (1st Corinthians 14:1, NKJV). As you can see in the biblical prophetic account of Ezekiel he prophesied to the dry bones and they lived again by the instructions of the Lord. Today, we too can prophesy to the dry bones in our service, ministry and workplace to allow the Spirit to move in our lives and win more lost souls for Him. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ was to be built on power and anointing. We are to desire spiritual gifts, which is what society is missing. The missing drink to their thirsty soul because the Bible tells me so because under the New Covenant the authority of the Spirit is for all flesh to be renewed and reconciled back to God, “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38, NKJV). Let us keep to the simple gospel message because if anyone is sharing a message other than this I would have to say just like Astronaut Jack Swigert of Apollo 13 NASA mission quotes, “Houston we have a problem.” It is time for supernatural experiences over people so they know God exists and to encounter Him in His presence. The Lord desires for men and women to want, desire more than ever to come before His presence. In His presence is where joy, peace, restoration and nourishment are found from a valley of dry bones. Be encouraged you are part of the solution and it is time to allow the “greater” the Holy Spirit and the well springs of life within us to do His work so you can speak and prophesy to dry bones again so they may live.
