Twin Defeats for the DNC

COMMON SENSE: Yesterday, there were two interesting ironies. One concerned RFK Jr., the second Donald Trump, but both involved the Democratic National Committee.

When Bobby Kennedy decided to oppose President Biden in the primaries, eventually running as an independent, the DNC used lawfare and millions to keep Kennedy off of the November ballot. Biden’s team was so furious at Kennedy for his questioning opposition to their policies, a mortal sin for Democrats, that they even refused to provide Kennedy with Secret Service security. Now that I think about it, irony may be involved with that decision as well.

When Kennedy dropped out, endorsing Trump, the DNC changed its position instantly. They insisted Kennedy’s name remain on the ballot. Thinking it would hurt Trump the most, they were adamant, but they lost their bid in North Carolina yesterday. I hope you can see the irony of this.

There was further irony in New York. Judge Merchan, insisting that Trump be in court every day for his six-week trial, thinking it would keep him off of the campaign trail, reversed his position. Doing a 180 yesterday, in an effort to “not be political,” he postponed Trump’s sentencing.

Insulting our intelligence, he expects us to believe his decision wasn’t political, when everything he has done has been political so far has been political. It has been to hurt Trump while helping his opponents. Merchan, the Lawfare Guru, postponed sentencing because he knew Trump’s popularity would increase if he went forward with a sentencing date, and that’s the last thing Merchan wants to do.

Again, the irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife. In both instances, using the federal bureaucracy to cripple political opposition, the DNC, Biden-Harris, and Harris-Walz have failed miserably. In both cases, the Democrats’ malice has backfired. Even worse for them, the American people know what they have been doing.

Hmmm, how does that saying go . . . “Oh the web we do weave?”
