What about the Pardons—Trump’s and Biden’s?

COMMON SENSE: Because there is a good bit of confusion about both Trump’s and Biden’s pardons, I intend to address the issue. The position of the mainstream media is this: Biden should never have issued pardons to his family. That was wrong, but their position is that Trump has also been wrong. He should never have pardoned the January 6th prisoners.

Both did the wrong thing, according to the Progressive Left. Because they did, the media has made a negative moral equivalency about both. It’s a conclusion millions of Americans will accept as accurate. Equating both seems fair to the Left, even generous, except for one thing. It isn’t true.

Their analysis is superficial, a distortion of the facts, making their conclusion misleading and wrong.

Here’s why. Joe Biden promised not to pardon Hunter or any other family member. Through his Press Secretary, he made this promise repeatedly. Where Hunter was concerned, Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about it so often that it finally irritated her.

Despite Biden’s numerous assurances, after lying repeatedly to the American people, he did provide a blanket eleven-year pardon for Hunter and the rest of his family.

Where the January 6th prisoners were concerned, Trump didn’t lie. There was no deception, no distortion, no evasion. His pardoning of the prisoners, including the commutation of sentences for the violent ones, was the fulfillment of a campaign promise. At nearly every rally, he promised to release them just as soon as he became President. So, letting them out of jail is exactly what he did.

Here’s the difference: Biden lied repeatedly about what he would do. Trump didn’t. Trump told the truth about what he would do. That’s not the end of it though. There’s more.

Throughout his campaign, Trump steadfastly maintained that the incarceration of most of the January 6th prisoners was unwarranted, a complete miscarriage of justice. Biden, the Democrats, and the media consistently maintained that these prisoners deserved everything they got, which is a diametrically opposite position.

So, who is right? Here’s what I think. If the Left’s position is true, if it was accurate, then why would every member of the January 6th Committee require a Presidential pardon? If everything they did was on the up-and-up, why would they need protection from prosecution? The answer is, they wouldn’t. Then, the following question also needs to be asked. Why was one provided?

The answer is, pardons were required to cover up the gross miscarriage of injustice willfully committed by the January 6th Committee. The Committee went to great lengths to destroy evidence, including erasing video tapes that would have exposed the complicity of the FBI, while simultaneously exonerating the J-6 prisoners.

In my opinion, the January 6th Committee was the initial act of Lawfare against Donald Trump. The Committee used innocent Americans as pawns to destroy Trump’s credibility. Trump’s pardons simply set things straight. This is the truth, not the false moral equivalency the Progressives are force-feeding the American people.
