What, Not Who
Hang on everybody, we are almost there, soon this crazy segment of time known as the Presidential election cycle will be over. Hopefully, we can avoid any loss of friendships, fragmented family relationships, and biased bans on social media. I think it is ridiculous that people will allow themselves to be spun up and sever relationships over politics. We are not in junior high anymore, this is life.
If only Wiley Brand Publishers would kick out another of their, “For Dummies” books to help us get through this. No, we are left to our own maturity and discernment. Both help us to carefully see and develop a greater understanding. Maturity helps us make the right choices, while discernment cuts off all the noise and sees the truth. If we are to navigate what has become a very polarizing time for our nation, knowledge must be applied correctly.
As Americans we have the mindset that we will always be around, and that we will always be relevant. So did the Ceasars of Rome, and the British Empire of which the sun never set. They fell because of many of the same things that we have allowed in our nation. I can imagine that some are rolling their eyes and dismissing this as just another prediction of the end. Another claim that this an election that will decide America’s fate, based on Who we vote for. Here is a revelation, no one can, nor should they ever try to predict a when to an end. The end will come that has already been decided. (Rev. 11:15)
I am writing this to say that is not Who, but What are you voting for. In voting for a Who, you place yourself in a position of judge. And none of us know any candidate that well. And with the perverse propaganda that has been spewed by the media, and our inability to turn off the filters of our own desires, I think it best to focus on the What. There will never be a man or woman, including you and me, that will ever be a candidate that has not made mistakes. Some of them might be as grievous as ours. So put down your rocks.
This coming election is not Republican vs. Democrat. It is not Socialist vs. Conservative. And it is more than “What’s best for me” vs. “What’s best for all.” Whether party, ideology, or self-centered motivators, all are just pawns or tactics in a much larger struggle. This election is a decision or choice of allegiance. Allegiance to the One who brought America into existence and has sustained it. It is a choice between Good or evil. It is a choice between God or satan.
That is a bold statement! I know I just wrote it. But boldness is what is needed for this time. It is time for us to courageously stand up and remove any confusion that a Who may have in this election. They work for us. We are not their servants or slaves. They are the employees, we the people the employer. As a Christian, I consider it negligent and not being an ambassador for Christ in my country if I did not vote. And I am voting for God’s Truth to be the standard for our nation, and strong and wise leadership.
I rambled there a bit, but it needed to be written, but now back to my subject.
We are not voting for a Who that only talks a feel-good scenario and builds a following on popularity and promises. This was never intended to be a popularity contest. This is not a bidding war to see Who gets us the most free stuff. We are not voting for a Who that holds to an ideology that fits our current desires. Our desires often change as fast as the Who’s position.
So, if we are not voting for a person, for What are we voting?
As Americans we should for What aligns with our Constitution. The protection of life for people that have not yet been born, and to not be murdered in our streets. Freedom of speech and unwarranted persecution. And to pursue happiness by leading a peaceful life, minding your business, and working with your hands.
So how do we manifest What in our next election?
We vote for the protection of innocent blood.
“A nation that kills its children in the womb has lost its soul.”
Mother Teresa
We vote for law and order. For the protection and peace in the cities and towns of our nation.
Every citizen should be able to live free of the violence that has been allowed to run rampant across our nation. The people of Parkway Village in Memphis, Wells-Goodfellow in St. Louis, and the Middle East neighborhood of Baltimore all deserve the same quality of life that those in affluent neighborhoods enjoy.
We vote for labor and fiscal responsibility. That we be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. That our leaders steward our economy so as not to put us in the position of servant to the lender. That all thoughtless, irresponsible, and fraudulent spending ends.
On November 5th across our nation a decision will be made, an allegiance will be strengthened and seed (votes) will be cast that for the crop we hope to harvest. At the end of the day, we should remember the words given by the Holy Spirit to the Apostles Peter and Paul.
1 Peter 2:17 TPT
Recognize the value of every person and continually show love to every believer. Live your lives with great reverence and in holy awe of God. Honor your rulers.
Romans 13:1, 10 TPT
Every person must submit to and support the authorities over him. For there can be no authority in the universe except by God’s appointment, which means that every authority that exists has been instituted by God.
Love makes it impossible to harm another, so love fulfills all that the law requires.
Everyone please vote! And then on Wednesday morning, be nice to people, even those that voted differently than you. Because no matter the outcome, Jesus is Lord!
